Captivity” and “24” star Elisha Cuthbert, 23, has signed to star in a family comedy-drama called “The Six Wives of Henry Lefay” which is scheduled to start shooting next month in Connecticut. It will be written and directed by “Shrek the Third” writer Howard Gould.
Tim Allen, who starred in “Home Improvement” and the “Santa Clause” movies, also stars. He will play a salesman who becomes missing after a skydiving trip and has a wife and five ex-wives, ranging in age from 25 to 55, who believe that he is dead and fight over his will, who gets to bury him, and who loved him the most.
Cuthbert will play Allen’s single daughter. The actresses currently negotiating to be four of the wives are Kelli Garner of “Thumbsucker”, Andie MacDowell of “Four Weddings and A Funeral”, Paz Vega of “Spanglish”, and S. Epatha Merkerson of “Law and Order.”
Cuthbert described the film to Ryan Stewart of Cinematical.com as “...a really fun family film about a girl who has to organize her father’s funeral in the midst of dealing with six ex-wives.”
Elisha Cuthbert, who was born in Canada, also recently starred in “Captivity.” She got her start in acting as an extra in the kids series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and was later a co-host of the Canadian children’s television series, “Popular Mechanics for Kids.” She had her first lead role in 2004 in “The Girl Next Door”, she was also in “House of Wax” with Paris Hilton and Chad Michael Murray. Hilton later cast her for a small role in her music video for the song “Nothing In This World.” Her most recent release was “Captivity”, where she plays a fashion model imprisoned in a cellar by a psychopath. She can be seen next in “He Was A Quiet Man” and the romantic comedy “My Sassy Girl.”
